TEHRAN (Defapress) - In 1983, information flights and photography were severely limited due to the harsh conditions and restrictions imposed on the air forces. The limited conditions also caused our ground force information to have errors. In those days, sometimes the interval between shooting pictures was more than two months.
In those days, the students of "Construction Jihad of Isfahan University" and "Isfahan University of Technology", had formed a group and based on information about model airplanes, these same radio-controlled airplanes had tried to operate their model. At that time, countries like America and England were using these types of planes.
5 prototypes of UAVs were used in combat operations and the results surprised the commanders. In that operation, aerial photography by UAV prevented heavy casualties. At that time, the only way to identify and take aerial photos was to use RF4 reconnaissance aircraft, which had limited flight hours.
After starting the production of UAVs, they were named as Talash 1,2, Mohajer and etc. . During the sacred defense, a unit called the Raad was founded and focused on the the construction of drones and aerial photography by them.
UAV forces, by improving the capabilities of UAVs both in the field of flight depth and shooting pictures, experienced various initiatives and innovations, which can be seen in the improvement of the engine and body, improvement in the use of various types of cameras, constructing the launchers and so on.
The success in the manufacturing industry and the use of UAV while keeping them hidden from the Baath forces, caused the enemy to remain unaware of the effectiveness of these birds until 1988, and due to their simple structure, they could not shoot down even one of them with their various weapons.
