TEHRAN (Defapress) - The two presidents are currently in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan, participating in an international forum on Friday alongside other Central Asian leaders.
This marks the inaugural meeting between the two heads of state. The Russian president conveyed to his Iranian counterpart that both nations align in their perspectives on global events. Putin noted that Moscow and Tehran maintain active collaboration on the international front and frequently find common ground in their evaluations of world affairs. He invited the Iranian president to make an official visit to Russia, which Pezeshkian graciously accepted.
Pezeshkian also expressed, "Our relationship with Russia is sincere and strategic." He further stated, "Our economic and cultural ties are strengthening over time. The increasing trend of cooperation between Iran and Russia should be expedited in line with the intentions of the top leaders of both nations and the necessity of enhancing these relations."
Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran and Russia possess significant mutual and complementary capabilities that can benefit each other, asserting, "Our positions on global matters are much more aligned than those of any other states." He expressed optimism regarding the swift finalization of the strategic partnership agreement between Iran and Russia, highlighting the importance of advancing bilateral cooperation. Pezeshkian added, "I hope we will conclude this agreement during the forthcoming BRICS summit in Russia."
Additionally, Pezeshkian addressed the situations in Palestine and Lebanon, criticizing the actions of the Israeli regime, stating, "The Zionist regime disregards any international legal and humanitarian standards, and the regional situation is critical; European and American nations seem disinterested in fostering peaceful relations among the countries in the region."
