We respect the territorial integrity of Syria

TEHRAN (Defapress) - Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated in a press conference with his Iranian counterpart: "Although late, we welcome the ceasefire in Lebanon and for a permanent and sustainable ceasefire, the necessary pressure on Israel must be increased."

Stating that establishing peace and tranquility in our region will be possible by establishing peace in Palestine, the Turkish Foreign Minister stated: "The Zionist genocide in Gaza continues and the Netanyahu government prevents humanitarian aid from being sent to the region."

Stressing that no development should cause Palestine to be forgotten, Fidan noted: "We must continue our actions to stop the genocide and establish a Palestinian state; the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant for Netanyahu and Gallant is a hopeful step."

The Turkish Foreign Minister said: "Israeli officials who committed crimes in Gaza must be held accountable in international courts. We will continue our activities in this regard."

Fidan added: The Astana process had stopped the intense and field armed clashes, and our goal was to increase the regime's interaction with the opposition on the political scene. At this stage, the reason for the resumption of widespread clashes in Syria is that the interconnected problems of the country have not been resolved for more than 13 years.

He said that ignoring the legitimate demands of the opposition and not honestly participating in this political process was a mistake. We have repeatedly warned all parties involved (in Syria). The government must reach a compromise with the opposition.

Fidan continued Turkey is ready to provide all necessary assistance in this regard, we will continue in the coming periods with the coordination of Iran, which we had carried out important activities within the framework of the Astana process.

He said: We have always supported the territorial integrity and unity of Syria and we will continue to support it from now on.

The Turkish Foreign Minister emphasized: I want to emphasize one point once again most strongly and decisively, rest assured about our nation; Turkey will never allow terrorist organizations that try to exploit the atmosphere of instability to pass, we will destroy any existing threat to national security and people at the very beginning.

Hakan Fidan noted: "We will continue to consult with Iran in the coming period to improve bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation on regional issues."
