TEHRAN (Defapress) - The 8-year imposed war against Iran was the arena of an asymmetrical war, with Iranian warriors on one side and a heavily armed army on the other, supported financially and with weapons by the powers. While sanctions and financial pressures prevented the provision of weapons, parts, and data-x-items needed for the war. Therefore, the warriors sometimes used innovative and at the same time simple methods to confront the enemy.

Innovation in Cooling the Hot Barrel of a Machine Gun

Cooling the hot barrel of a machine gun using the snow of the Dopaza Heights was one of the innovative plans on the fronts, the method of which is described in the book "Front Culture" as follows: "If the barrel of a Grinov gun did not have time to cool down for a few minutes after continuous firing, after firing 2 or 3 volleys, its head would bend downward and the bullet would get stuck in it.

At Dopaza, when the enemy attack began and there was no spare barrel to replace in case the barrel bent, the gunner had ordered his assistant to fill an empty ammunition box with snow and keep it at hand, while he was shooting. He would also pound snow and rub it on the hot barrel of the machine gun to cool it down and prevent the bullet from getting stuck in it. If there were two Grinov barrels available, when changing the cartridge, the assistant would open the hot barrel that was red from excessive shooting and set it aside to cool down.

Then, when changing the next cartridge, the barrel would be changed again; in this way, the useful life of the gun barrels was increased and it was used beyond the standard of the country of manufacture.
