TEHRAN (Defapress) - Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced on Tuesday that Malaysia will actively pursue stronger trade relations with major global powers, including China, Russia, and Brazil, as uncertainty over potential US tariffs persists. Speaking in Malaysia’s parliament, Anwar emphasized the need for proactive measures to diversify the country’s trading partnerships.
Anwar highlighted the ongoing uncertainty surrounding US trade policies, noting that despite President Trump’s 30-day pause on tariffs for Canada and Mexico, the threat of tariffs on other nations, including China, remains. “On our part, we must take proactive steps … to aggressively open a wider network of trading partners,” he stated.
The move signals Malaysia’s intent to reduce reliance on any single market and strengthen economic ties with other key players in the global economy.
