TEHRAN (Defapress) - US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, referring to the trade exchange of China and Brazil with local currencies and not using the dollar, emphasized that the increase in this trend will make Washington no longer able to sanction countries.

We Won't Be Able to Sanction Countries in the Next 5 Years

In recent years, in response to the dictatorship of the dollar in international transactions and unilateral US sanctions, many countries have moved towards carrying out their financial and trade exchanges and transactions with local currencies instead of dollars.

The US Secretary of State, specifically criticizing the actions of Brazil and China to use local currencies in bilateral trade relations, said: In the next 5 years, more countries will use local currencies in their trade exchanges instead of using the dollar... (and this will make) us unable to sanction them.

After World War II, the United States, backed by its powerful economy, used sanctions to target other countries. Since many international monetary and financial institutions operate with the support of the United States, these sanctions have had serious consequences for various countries. These countries have always sought to find a solution to counter the sanctions, the most important of which was replacing the dollar in international transactions.

Accordingly, US President Donald Trump warned the BRICS group about efforts to weaken the dollar.

Trump wrote in his account on the Truth: I ask the BRICS member countries not to create a new currency or support another currency to replace the strong US dollar.

The message continued: If the BRICS group tries to create a new currency or support another currency to replace the US dollar, the member countries of this group will face a 100 percent tariff on goods and services exported to the United States.

The BRICS group, which was originally founded with the world's emerging economies of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, is now accepting more members. With many of the group's member countries, including Russia and Iran, under draconian US sanctions, finding a new currency to replace the dollar has gained much support among BRICS members.
