TEHRAN (Defapress) - During the continuation of the Zulfiqar 1403 joint maneuver of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army, the 15 Khordad air defense system of the Air Defense Force targeted and shot down hostile aircraft assigned by the country's integrated air defense network, which intended to infiltrate the general area of the maneuver, after conducting detection, identification, and interception operations.
Brigadier General "Alireza Sheikh," the spokesperson for the joint Zulfiqar 1403 maneuver of the Army, stated in this regard: "In this exercise, the Army's Air Defense Force, using the passive detection and positioning system Zulfiqar, provided the precise three-dimensional positions of hostile aircraft to the engagement systems, and the indigenous 15 Khordad air defense system was able to accurately identify the target's position and shoot down the hostile aircraft."
The spokesperson for the joint Zulfiqar maneuver of the Army added: "The passive detection and positioning system Zulfiqar, without emitting any waves, detected the precise position of the target and, due to its passive nature, remains undetectable to the enemy."
He said: "Utilizing a secure and multi-layered communication network to establish proper and stable communication between detection and identification systems, visual observers, missile systems, and the transfer and analysis of information in the country's air defense network for decision-making on how to confront the enemy is of utmost importance. The cohesive and integrated performance of the air defense ensemble, including detection and identification systems, electronic warfare, radar sensors, observation, and missile systems, has yielded favorable results."
General Sheikh noted: "One of the highlights of the exercise was the implementation of various passive defense measures aimed at concealing systems, equipment, and air defense activities, and preventing the enemy from gaining access to information about friendly forces, which was executed in this phase of the maneuver."
