TEHRAN (Defapress) - Esmail Baghaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated in a speech: "If we consider the correspondence that took place and the beginning of the process that led to the indirect talks in Muscat as the basis for our work, we had nothing other than the nuclear issue in that correspondence."
The Foreign Ministry spokesman added: "It is clear that the American side entered into this interaction based on the same instructions it had."
Baghaei continued: "Iran's position has been clear that the only issue under discussion is the nuclear issue and the lifting of sanctions, and we will not have any discussion with the American side on any other issue. This was the basis for our work, and this was followed in Muscat as well."
The Foreign Ministry spokesman clarified: "What was our basis, and we were committed to, according to the instructions received from the authorities of the regime and based on the belief of the diplomatic establishment, is to talk with the American side only on the nuclear issue and the lifting of sanctions."
