TEHRAN (Defapress) - Esmail Baghaei, the spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, strongly condemned the new U.S. sanctions against individuals and entities in Iran and several other countries under the pretext of cooperation with Iran in various economic and commercial fields.
Referring to the continuation of America’s hostile, illegal, and inhumane policies against the Iranian nation, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson described the oppressive sanctions imposed by the U.S. on Iran as a violation of fundamental principles and norms of international law, including human rights standards. He emphasized: "The sanctions announced in recent days under various pretexts against Iranian and non-Iranian individuals and companies are a clear indication of the insistence of U.S. policymakers on breaking the law and violating the rights and interests of other countries, as well as their efforts to disrupt friendly and lawful relations among developing nations through economic terrorism."
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson further described these sanctions, which are part of the failed and criminal policy of maximum pressure against the great nation of Iran, as yet another clear example of the contradictory approach of U.S. decision-makers and their lack of goodwill and seriousness in advancing diplomatic engagement. He stressed that "the responsibility for the destructive consequences of Washington’s contradictory actions and provocative statements regarding Iran lies solely with the American side."
Baghaei, recalling America’s long history of hostility toward the Iranian people, including through economic sanctions and obstructing Iran’s path to scientific, economic, and technological development, which has fostered deep distrust and suspicion among Iranians toward the U.S., reaffirmed the Iranian nation’s determination to resist U.S. intimidation and pressure and to utilize all available means to continue Iran’s dignified path of progress and prosperity.
