UN Urges US to Refrain from Threatening Nigeria

TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to Sputnik, the deputy spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, Farhan Haq, called on all member states of the organization to refrain from violence or threats against other countries.

Farhan Haq's remarks are made in response to US President Donald Trump's belligerent stances against Nigeria under the pretext of supporting Christians.

He added: "Our fundamental position is that all UN member states must act in accordance with international law, including the Charter of the organization. These countries should not use threats and force against other countries. The UN is ready to continue its support for Nigeria's efforts to address the root causes of violence in the country."

Earlier, Nigeria, while expressing its opposition to Trump's threats, emphasized that any intervention of this kind would be unacceptable and based on misleading reports about the oppression of Christians.
