TEHRAN (Defapress) - Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, and Mauro Vieira, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, discussed and exchanged views on bilateral relations and international developments during a telephone call on Monday, January 5. The Foreign Ministers of Iran and Brazil emphasized the need for close cooperation and coordination between developing countries in international forums to confront unilateralism and support international law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.

Referring to the US military attack on Venezuela and the kidnapping of the country's president and his wife, the Iranian Foreign Minister condemned the action as a gross violation of the UN Charter and the fundamental rules of international law.
Warning of the dangerous consequences of US bullying for the rule of law in international relations, Araghchi emphasized that these unilateral actions severely jeopardize the foundations of the order based on international law and normalize the use of force.
While confirming the principled position of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Brazilian Foreign Minister considered the US action in kidnapping the president of an independent country as a clear violation of the UN Charter and announced that this issue would be pursued in the meetings of the Security Council, the Organization of American States (OAS), and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
