Israel Prevents the Creation of a Zone Free of Weapons of Mass Destruction in the Middle East
TEHRAN (Defapress) - Mikhail Ulyanov, the Russian Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the Vienna-based international organizations, said in a statement: The Israeli regime prevents the creation of a zone free of weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East.

Ulyanov added: Israel's lack of participation in the United Nations conference on the creation of a zone free of weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East will lead to the failure of this mechanism.
He added: Israel's lack of participation in the United Nations conference on zones free of weapons of mass destruction remains the biggest problem.
Ulyanov said: "Although the US opposition is regrettable and has no practical significance in the functioning of this conference, the realization of the goals of this conference is impossible without Israel's participation."
The Russian ambassador and permanent representative to international organizations based in Vienna added: "We have always and persistently promoted the idea that Israel's refusal to participate in this conference is a self-sanction and a disregard for dialogue, and that is why other countries in the region have left the doors open for Israel's participation."
He concluded by stating that Iran's proposal to start a strategic dialogue in the region on a common security system is a good idea, and said: "Russia may present a new initiative to create a zone free of weapons of mass destruction in the Middle East."
