"The US move in attributing some missile parts to Iran is a ridiculous political play," Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi said.
He said that recently the US has displayed parts of missiles claiming that Iran has provided them for the Yemeni movement, Ansarullah.
"We dismiss the move as a ridiculous political play that is performed with certain purposes," Boroujerdi added.
The senior Iranian lawmaker said the first goal of US President Donald Trump by such a move was to put Iran's missile capability under the spotlight.
"Trump is trying to lay ground for meddling in an issue that is a red line of the Islamic Republic of Iran for sure," he added.
"Secondly, they are trying to cover up the Saudi Arabia's numerous crimes," Boroujerdi said.
He noted with the move, the US is distracting the public opinion from the crimes to a hypothetical and unreal missile that it attributes to Iran.
US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley hosted a lunch at the White House last month, attended by Trump, at which she displayed parts of the missile allegedly manufactured by Iran to her counterparts in the UN Security Council.
She had earlier showcased some pieces of missile and weapons claiming that Tehran has violated the UN Security Council's resolutions by sending the missile to Yemeni Ansarollah forces.
Her evidences have been rejected by officials of the US Defense Department in a New York Times report.
