Duma Chairman, Iranian parliament Speaker meet in Tehran

(Tehran) Defapress: The Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin accompanied by a delegation arrived in the Iranian parliament and was welcomed by Speaker of the Parliament of Iran Ali Larijani.

The Chairman for the Committee for Foreign Policy and National Security of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran Alaeddin Boroujerdi, the spokesman for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Behrouz Kamalvandi, the chairman for communication committee of Iranian parliament Ramezanali Sobhanifar, the head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran Mojtaba Khosrotaj, the chairman for councils committee Mohammad Javad Kolivand, Iranian ambassador to Russia Mehdi Sanaie, Interior minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli and Iranian Parliament's General Director for International Affairs Amir Abdollahian also attended at the welcome ceremony.

At the meeting, one memorandum of understanding was signed and according to the document the two countries stressed on developing economic cooperation in national and provincial level.

During the meeting, Mr. Larijani said, “I have met with Mr. Volodin in Russia and some other countries several time and discussed the idea of advancement of joint cooperation in a frame work. Given the frame work, we will follow the development of parliamentary cooperation for trade collaboration and political consultation by a joint committee to establish a stable security and fight smuggling illegal drugs”.

Iranian parliament Speaker added, “We reviewed major economic projects aimed at increasing the level of relations. This cooperation includes some major projects in Northern provinces of Iran which are near to Russian border. The privet sectors of the two states will hold joint meetings on the afternoon”.

Duma Chairman also said, “By signing the memorandum of understanding to establish a joint parliamentary committee between the two countries, Moscow reaches a new level in its relations with Tehran. The new committee will be responsible to implement the agreed projects”.

Stating that cooperation between Tehran and Moscow is progressing, he added, “The result of the ties led to create very good relation between Iranian and Russian presidents and today is a good circumstance to apply the decision”.

“By creating a joint structure, we are carrying out some responsibilities and agreements. This frame works help the two sides to fight against terrorism and illegal drugs. But our main goal is to develop the economic ties,”Duma Chairman continued.

Noting to quintet meetings with Mr. Larijani, Volodin said that he met with Iranian Parliament Speaker five times which the number of visits indicated a good and honest relationship between the two countries' officials.

He added, “I met with Mr. Larijani at security conference in Pakistan, the conference of Inter Parliamentary Alliance in Saint Petersburg and the conference of Chairmen of parliaments in Seoul and we had good negotiations on improving the bilateral ties”.
