Netanyahu Is the Main Obstacle to the Ceasefire

TEHRAN (Defapress) - In an interview with Defapress correspondent, Seyed Hadi Seyed Afghahi, an international affairs expert, stated: Zionist regime officials have repeatedly emphasized that the Gaza war will continue even after the release of Israeli prisoners.

He said: The difference in perspective between Hamas and the Zionist regime shows that establishing a ceasefire in Gaza is not easy; in addition, Netanyahu imposes new conditions at every stage.

The international affairs expert, pointing out that the ceasefire negotiations have been delayed for more than six months due to various reasons and excuses and have not reached a conclusion, said: Whenever the Gaza ceasefire negotiations reach a clear and specific result, Netanyahu leads these negotiations to failure by raising an inappropriate issue or demand.

Seyed Afghahi emphasized that evidence shows that if the issue of Israeli hostages is resolved, the pressure on Netanyahu will increase. Because then they will ask him what he wants to do after the prisoners are released. Does he want to continue the war?

He clarified: After the damage it has caused to itself, Gaza, and other regions, the Zionist community is no longer interested in continuing the Gaza war. In addition, a new round of clashes has already begun in the West Bank.

Seyed Afghahi added: Netanyahu does not want the problem to be solved in this way and easily, and is not even willing to make a single concession to Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Although they constantly say that they are getting closer to solving the problem and reaching a ceasefire agreement but we see that they are using false pretexts to prevent Hamas from reaching a ceasefire agreement.

He noted that Netanyahu does not want the Israeli prisoners to be released at all, and Hamas is well aware of this; resolving the issue of prisoners is detrimental to Netanyahu; therefore, it is making excuses as much as it can.

Stressing that Hamas is not only negotiating to resolve the issue of Palestinian prisoners but also on behalf of all the blood that has been shed in Gaza to date, Seyed Afghahi stated: “Hamas is thinking about the future of the Palestinian people and the future of the people of the region during these negotiations.”

He said: "Despite the damage Hamas has suffered during the Gaza war, it continues to confront the Zionist regime with strength and conveys the message to them that this Palestinian resistance group is still alive."

The international affairs expert emphasized that Hamas cannot be destroyed, because it is an idea and a thought, and stated: The Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution said that the issue of resistance cannot be ended, because Resistance is a thought that is passed on from one generation to another and may even develop and become more prosperous.
