TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to the Palestinian Information Center, the director of Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza, Dr. Muhammad Mohammed Abu Salameh, stressed that medical staff are left in inhumane conditions and without the slightest facilities, and they feel that the international community, especially the Arab and Islamic countries, has abandoned them in Gaza's darkest moments.
He called on the world to immediately open the crossings and allow medical and humanitarian aid to enter to save the lives of the people of Gaza. He warned that Gaza is facing a planned genocide in which massacres through starvation and continuous bombing continue before the eyes of the indifferent world.
According to reports, the level of hunger and malnutrition in Gaza has reached a critical level, and the UN has repeatedly warned that tens of thousands of women and children are at risk of dying. The Gaza Health Ministry announced that 19 people have died of starvation in the past 24 hours alone, one of whom was Razan Abu Zaher, a 4-year-old girl who spent half of her short life under the fire of war. So far, at least 76 children have died of malnutrition and starvation in Gaza.
The Government Information Office in Gaza also announced on Sunday that the number of Palestinian victims who went to the so-called American-Israeli aid centers to receive food aid has reached 995 martyrs, 6011 wounded, and 45 missing.
The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) stressed that the food blockade of civilians is a clear war crime and should not be used as a weapon. The international agency warned that families in Gaza were facing severe hunger and children were suffering from acute malnutrition, with some dying before aid could reach them.
The UN agency also said it had received "desperate messages" from its partners in Gaza indicating a worsening famine in the region. It called for the lifting of the blockade and the safe and widespread entry of humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the people of Gaza.
