TEHRAN (Defapress) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, who has traveled to Baku to consult with senior officials of the Republic of Azerbaijan, met and talked with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev this morning (Monday), December 8.

In this meeting, they exchanged views on a series of bilateral issues, including the process of political interactions, issues related to neighborhoods, and mechanisms for managing relations between the two countries.
The Iranian Foreign Minister conveyed President Pezeshkian’s warm greetings to the President of Azerbaijan, and, referring to the deep-rooted ties between the two nations, emphasized the determination and will of the Islamic Republic of Iran to consolidate and expand relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan in all areas of mutual interest.
Pointing to the importance of a long-term perspective in neighborly relations, Araghchi emphasized the role of continuous diplomatic consultations to remove misunderstandings and manage mutual issues.
The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, while exchanging greetings with President Pezeshkian, described his visit to Baku as a historic visit that has played an important role in strengthening understanding and improving relations between the two countries.
Ilham Aliyev, expressing satisfaction with the growing trend of relations between the two countries, emphasized Azerbaijan’s readiness to use all available capacities to expand relations.
During the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister also explained the views of the Islamic Republic of Iran on regional developments.
