Iran's Foreign Minister Arrives in Moscow

Following intensive regional consultations, Araghchi arrived in Moscow to meet and negotiate with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and a group of political, parliamentary, and intellectual officials.

TEHRAN (Defapress) - Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi was welcomed by Iranian Ambassador Kazem Jalali and Russian Foreign Ministry officials upon his arrival at Moscow’s Vnukovo International Airport on Tuesday.

Araghchi is scheduled to meet and discuss with a group of Russian intellectuals and intellectual elites on his first official visit to Moscow.

The Foreign Minister will also meet and discuss with some officials from the State Duma (legislative chamber) and the Federation Council (upper house), the two parliamentary chambers of Russia, this afternoon.

In this meeting, which will be hosted by Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the State Duma International Affairs Committee, Araghchi will hold a meeting with the heads of committees, heads of parliamentary friendship groups with Iran in the Duma and the Federation Council, to develop bilateral relations.

Meeting with the directors of institutions and diplomats of the Iranian embassy will be another program of Araghchi.

The Foreign Minister will also attend the MGIMO University (Russian Foreign Ministry University of International Relations) on Wednesday and will give a speech to the professors and students of this university.

According to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, Araghchi will meet with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on an official visit to Moscow on Wednesday afternoon and will hold talks on various issues.

The statement reads: Araghchi and Lavrov will discuss current international issues, including the issue of Iran's nuclear program, in detail in this meeting, and exchange views on regional issues of mutual interest.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the meeting will also focus on current issues on the bilateral agenda of Russian-Iranian relations, which have been elevated to a new qualitative level of comprehensive strategic partnership after the Comprehensive Strategic Treaty came into force in October 1404.

Iranian Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, also wrote in a message on X: Stable relations between Iran and Russia are being strengthened by the continuation of high-level meetings. Following last week’s consultations between the presidents of the two countries in Ashgabat, Dr. Araghchi traveled to Moscow today to meet with the foreign minister and other officials of the country.

Jalali added: Currently, the agenda of relations covers a wide range of political issues and economic projects, and regional and international interactions are also underway to advance common goals and approaches, which will raise the level of relations even higher than before.
