Israel Concerned About Egyptian Army’s Use of Artificial Intelligence

TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to Ma’an, the Hebrew newspaper Ma’ariv reported that Israeli security circles are watching with great concern Egypt’s move towards creating an advanced military complex based on artificial intelligence.

According to the report, this development has heightened concerns in the Israeli regime regarding any possible conflict.

Ma’ariv added that Egypt is not seeking to upgrade classical weapons such as tanks and fighter jets, but is trying to create an independent command, control, and intelligence (C4ISR) system based on software, data, and rapid decision-making while reducing dependence on Western technologies.

The report states that the Egyptian armed forces are seeking to integrate artificial intelligence-related technologies into intelligence, drone, and control systems so that they can operate even during cyber attacks.

Ma'ariv also mentioned China's role in the transfer of artificial intelligence technologies.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a closed session of the Knesset's Foreign Affairs and Security Committee that the capabilities of the Egyptian army are being strengthened.

Expressing concern about Cairo's increasing military power, he added: "The Egyptian army must be closely monitored, and its excessive strengthening must be prevented."
