TEHRAN (Defapress) - Following the recent statements and actions by the Israeli authorities regarding the implementation of a law that allows the issuance of death sentences for Palestinian prisoners, the political and legal environment in occupied Palestine and internationally has faced a wave of reactions and concerns.

In this regard, the Shahab news agency reported that the Hamas movement, by issuing a statement, called this action by the Zionist occupiers and the acceleration of its implementation the clearest sign in depicting the true face of the Zionist regime in the public opinion of the people and countries of the world; an action that is based on the bloodshed and organized killing of the Palestinian people.
Hebrew-language media outlets have also reported that the law, which was previously approved as a controversial bill in the Knesset, allows Israeli judicial authorities to issue death sentences to Palestinian prisoners accused of carrying out operations against Israelis in certain cases. This is an issue that has rarely been raised before, even within the framework of Israel’s domestic laws.
However, the important point in the meantime is that the officials of the Zionist regime claimed that the implementation of the law on the execution of Palestinian prisoners is being carried out solely for “deterrence” and “increasing security.” This is, while human rights organizations consider this measure to be a clear violation of international law, the Geneva Conventions, and the principles of fair trial.
Of course, this is not the end of the story, and following the start of the implementation of the law on the execution of Palestinian prisoners, human rights organizations have warned that such a law could become a political tool to intensify the oppression of Palestinians, especially political prisoners.
In contrast, Palestinian resistance groups have described this action as a “declaration of war against Palestinian prisoners” and have warned of its consequences. Some Palestinian movements have emphasized that any practical implementation of the death sentence against the prisoners will be met with a reciprocal response and an escalation of tensions.
On the other hand, at the international level, some human rights institutions and activists have called for the immediate intervention of the international community to prevent the implementation of this law. Legal experts believe that if the death sentences are actually implemented, “Israel” will face serious challenges in international courts and increased political pressure.
However, precise details about the executions, timing, and possible number of sentences issued have not yet been published, and many observers assess the upcoming developments as a sensitive test for the future of the situation of Palestinian prisoners and the fragile stability of the region.
This is while the Israeli Channel 13 TV announced a few days ago that the law on the execution of Palestinian prisoners has been approved in the first stage in the regime's Knesset and includes prisoners whom Tel Aviv accuses of carrying out attacks or planning them.
According to the plan, a special team is to be established to carry out death sentences, the necessary procedures and instructions will be developed, and the execution forces will receive the necessary training. The selection of team members is voluntary, and the guards will undergo special training. According to informed sources, the executions will be carried out within 90 days after the final verdict is issued.
According to the details published about the plan, the executions will first include key Hamas members who participated in the October 7, 2023, operation, and then prisoners whom the Israeli regime has declared "dangerous."
Finally, the proposed law allows the execution of any Palestinian who kills an Israeli citizen, but it is not possible to execute Israelis who kill Palestinians. This depicts blatant and unfair discrimination between Palestinians and Zionists.
