TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to the Anadolu Agency, the Palestinian Prisoners' Information Office, a non-governmental office, announced in a statement: "In the strongest terms, we condemn the raid by Itamar Ben-Gvir, the Israeli Minister of Internal Security, on the Ofer Prison on the eve of the holy month of Ramadan, which was accompanied by repressive measures and humiliating behavior towards Palestinian prisoners."

This Palestinian institution considered Ben-Gvir's action a provocative and dangerous act and a message of revenge that, according to the institution, targets the dignity and morale of Palestinian prisoners and indicates the continuation of the approach of repression and crime in the prisons of the Zionist regime.
The Palestinian Prisoners Information Office assessed the raid as part of the accelerated efforts to pass what is called the “Prisoners Execution Law,” warning that this process is a dangerous attempt to institutionalize more extreme policies against Palestinian prisoners and to truly endanger their lives, in the absence of any international accountability or deterrence to stop these ongoing violations.
In its statement, the Palestinian Prisoners Information Office called for a united Palestinian national position and immediate media, diplomatic, and legal action at the level of Arab countries and in the global arena to save Palestinian prisoners from the crimes of the Zionist regime.
The organization also stressed the need to intensify solidarity and support campaigns for Palestinian prisoners based on the Geneva Conventions, international law, and the conventions against torture to pressure the Zionist regime to stop policies that violate the fundamental rights of these prisoners and contradict humanitarian standards.
Ben-Gvir stormed Ofer prison near the city of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank on Friday, an act that was accompanied by harassment of Palestinian prisoners.
Ben-Gwer is known for publishing insulting videos against Palestinian prisoners and threatening to kill them, the most prominent recent case being the targeting of Marwan al-Barghouti, a leader of the Fatah movement.
The extremist minister has repeatedly boasted of tightening restrictions on Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons.
Since Ben-Gvir took office as Minister of Internal Security of the Israeli regime at the end of 2022, and due to the punitive policies applied to prisons and jails, the condition of Palestinian prisoners has rapidly deteriorated, with reports indicating a significant loss of weight.
According to information received as of February 5, more than 9,300 Palestinians, including 350 children, are being held in Israeli prisons.
Palestinian, Israeli, and international institutions have repeatedly warned about the torture of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli prisons; a trend that has intensified since October 2023, coinciding with the Al-Aqsa Storm in Gaza.
