New Domestic Air Defense Systems to Be Deployed Across the Country
TEHRAN (Defapress) - In an interview with the Defapress correspondent, Brigadier General Alireza Elhami, Commander of the Army Air Defense Force and the Khatam al-Anbiya (PBUH) Joint Air Defense Base, explained the difference between powerful indigenous air defense systems and foreign models, stating: The main difference between equipments and systems that are 100% Iranian and are produced based on indigenous knowledge can be summarized in two or three effective issues.
Brigadier General Elhami considered the first advantage of powerful indigenous defense systems to be the lack of need for other countries to upgrade and update them, adding: Since threats are changing in form, nature, and tactics every moment, we are forced to update our equipment and systems in line with new threats, and this process is much faster and easier for systems whose software and hardware are completely in our possession than for foreign equipment.
He stated that the second distinguishing feature of purely Iranian equipment is its suitability for the geography and specialized and expert needs of the country, saying: We must either buy a system that has been produced for general purposes in another country or produce a system that is designed in line with the geography, climatic conditions, and real needs of our own battlefield; in fact, these features have practically proven the superiority of Iranian equipment over foreign models on the battlefield.
The Commander of the Khatam al-Anbiya (PBUH) Joint Air Defense Base also spoke about the capability of the Army's Air Defense Force and the re-equipment of defense systems: Today, relying fully on domestic capabilities, we are ready, and we are increasing the number of equipment produced, as well as their type, application, and tactics moment by moment.
Referring to the performance of indigenous systems in the 40-Day Imposed War, Brigadier General Elhami said: The equipment produced during this battle passed a successful test and is now being rapidly multiplied to be deployed throughout the Islamic Republic of Iran.
