On the local front, President Rodrigo Duterte threatened in
a state TV talk show late Friday "to declare a revolutionary government
until the end of my term" to allow him to arrest opponents and launch an
all-out war against communist guerrillas if they seriously attempt to
destabilize his government, AP reported.
A pro-democracy alliance immediately condemned his "threat to annihilate our democracy" and called on democratic forces in and outside the Philippines to resist any such attempt.
Duterte's latest outburst against critics came after a slide in his public satisfaction and trust ratings.
