IRGC Commander: Iranian Nation to Resist against Political, Economic SanctionsTEHRAN (Defapress)-"No country in the world has been sanctioned like Iran and the enemies want to break the resistance of the zealous and honorable Iranian people but the resistance of the noble Iranian nation is a strong blow to the world arrogant powers," General Salami said, addressing a ceremony in the Central city of Qom on Friday night.

He stressed the necessity for Iran to increase its defense power to deter threats and confront the foreign pressures against the country's security.

In relevant remarks earlier this month, General Salami emphasized that Iran would continue its missile and defense progress and no power is able to disarm the country.

"It is for about 40 years that they have employed all their strength in various political, military, cultural, intelligence and psychological warfare to bring the Iranian nation to its knees but to no avail," General Salami said, addressing a ceremony in Sistan and Balouchestan province.

"The US withdrawal from the JCPOA is aimed at putting Iran at the center of its economic sanctions which is not a significant development," he said.

"In fact, they seek to force our nation to surrender in a bid to attain their sinister goals," Salami said, adding that the Islamic Republic of Iran plays a leading role in regional equations.

Security of energy in the Persian Gulf is now in the hands of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the country is the key to the solution of all problems, Salami said.

"Iran is determined to expand its military might and under no circumstances will disarm itself in fight with the enemies," he underscored.
