TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to Al Jazeera, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth admitted in an interview with Fox News that Ansar Allah was not completely destroyed and all of America's time and resources should not be spent on regime change in Yemen.
He continued: We cannot spend our time fighting the Houthis alone and neglect our main interests and priorities, which are Iran and China.
Without referring to the country's failure in attacking Yemen, the US Defense Secretary claimed: The main goal of our recent series of operations in the Red Sea was to make the Houthis surrender.
Without mentioning the Truman aircraft carrier's escape from the waters of the region and its return to the United States, Hegseth claimed: "Currently, American ships can pass through the Bab al-Mandab Strait with greater freedom."
The US Secretary of Defense added: "The President has been very clear in his positions regarding the response to the Houthi attacks and has warned that targeting American ships will not go unanswered."
In another part of his remarks, Hegseth referred to his country's numerous maneuvers for war with China and said: "At the Pentagon, we have simulated war with China many times to always be one step ahead of Beijing."
Referring to Washington's increasing focus on the Asia-Pacific region, he noted: "The United States has not forgotten Europe and the Middle East, and while paying attention to these regions, it has shifted its strategic focus to the Indo-Pacific region."
