TEHRAN (Defapress) - Following the continuation of street protests in various cities of Iran, US President Donald Trump, on Friday, published a post on social media, while interfering in Iran’s internal affairs, once again threatening Iran with a military attack; an action that was accompanied by widespread reactions inside the country.

Grave Consequences of US Interference in Iran’s Internal Affairs

In response to this threat, Ali Larijani, advisor to the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, wrote on X: “With the stance of the Israeli and Trump officials, the background of the incident became clear. We consider the positions of the protesting businessmen to be separate from the vandalists, and Trump should know that American interference in this internal issue is equal to the disruption of the entire region and the interests of America. The American people should know that Trump started the adventure. Be careful of your soldiers.”

Larijani also emphasized that the Islamic Republic distinguishes between the legitimate demands of the people and subversive elements.

On the other hand, a member of the Supreme National Defense Council, Ali Shamkhani, also warned: “Any hand that tries to disrupt Iran’s security will be cut off with a regrettable response.” He considered national security to be the Islamic Republic’s “red line” and emphasized that any US action would have serious consequences for the entire region.

These positions show that Tehran has viewed Trump’s post as blatant interference in Iran’s internal affairs. Iranian officials have repeatedly emphasized that the recent protests are rooted in economic problems and the pressure of sanctions, but that foreign interference could divert them from their path.

Trump’s threat was made in continuation of the maximum pressure policy against Iran and after the US attacks on Iranian nuclear sites last June. In response to those attacks, Iran targeted the Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, an event that showed that any direct conflict could quickly spread throughout the region.

At the public level, many Iranian domestic media outlets saw the threat as a “continuation of Washington’s hostile policies” and an attempt to politically exploit the protests.

The reality is that the US military threat against Iran, regardless of its stated intention, could have dangerous consequences for regional stability. Iran has repeatedly shown that it will respond to any military action against it with a direct and widespread response. In such circumstances, Trump’s threat increases the risk of military conflict and further instability in West Asia, rather than leading to real support for the protesters.
