Iran's Rouhani, Turkey's Erdogan discuss Palestine on phoneTEHRAN (Defapress) – “The criminal acts of the Zionist regime make the Palestinian nation more united, the real intentions of US more exposed,” said Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a phone conversation with Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish President.
President Rouhani described the killing of oppressed Palestinian people by the Israeli regime a great catastrophe and said, “the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation must carry out their duty in supporting the oppressed people of Palestine in this critical point.”
President Hassan Rouhani told his Turkish counterpart, “the US administration’s move to relocate their embassy to the Holy Quds was illegal, provoking the people of Palestine and other Muslims.”
Stating that the US government and the Israeli regime must be held accountable for killing of people and their provocative actions in the region, the President added, “Unfortunately, the President of the United States has made a miscalculation in regional issues and thinks that by supporting the Zionist regime, it can put out the Palestinian resistance movement."
Welcoming his Turkish counterpart’s invitation to attend the extraordinary OIC summit in Istanbul, Rouhani said, “we must make efforts to project a united, strong voice from Islamic countries to the world against the US and Israel actions."
He also expressed happiness over developing relations between Iran and Turkey and said, “deepening of Tehran-Ankara relations is to the benefit of the two nations and promotes peace, stability and security in the region."
In the phone call, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expressed regret over the recent Israeli crimes against the oppressed people of Palestine and said, “this killing by the Zionist regime is the result of US government’s ill-considered actions."
“Islamic countries must unitedly express their protest and objection towards these crimes and follow the rights of the people of Palestine in international communities,” he said.
Inviting President Rouhani to attend the coming extraordinary OIC summit in Istanbul, Erdoğan said, “Today, it is time that we carry out our duty towards our Palestinian brothers."
