TEHRAN (Defapress) - Abbas Araghchi, during discussions with Antonio Guterres, underscored the United Nations' obligation to take immediate action to safeguard both regional and international peace and security.
He highlighted the Security Council's failure to implement effective measures and its inability to issue even a basic statement condemning Israel's acts of genocide and aggression. Araghchi stressed the legal and moral responsibilities of the Secretary-General and the President of the General Assembly to rally the international community against the transgressions of the occupying Zionist regime.
The senior Iranian diplomat characterized the ongoing obstruction by the United States in the Security Council as “illegal and shameful,” aimed at hindering any efforts to compel the Zionist regime to cease its genocide in Gaza and its aggression towards Lebanon.
He asserted that the United States is complicit in the crimes and misdeeds of Israel, citing the use of American-supplied mortar bombs to target resistance leaders as a clear indication of Washington's involvement in the actions of the Zionist regime.
Reiterating Iran's commitment to robustly defend its vital interests and national security against the threats posed by the Zionist regime, Araghchi affirmed that the struggle and aspiration for resistance against Israeli aggression and occupation will persist resolutely, and the crimes committed by the Zionists will only strengthen the resolve of the region's people to assert their inalienable rights and confront the regime's malevolence.
