TEHRAN (Defapress) - The World Food Programme has initiated an emergency operation aimed at delivering meals to one million individuals impacted by the escalating conflict in Lebanon.
In a statement, the WFP emphasized that the recent intensification of hostilities over the weekend highlighted the urgent need for a humanitarian intervention. The organization is currently distributing ready-to-eat food rations, bread, hot meals, and food parcels to various shelters throughout the nation.
The ongoing bombardment in Lebanon is exacerbating the vulnerabilities of a population already grappling with multiple crises. The WFP noted that as the situation worsens, preparations are underway to assist up to one million people through a combination of cash and food aid.
“Lebanon is at a breaking point and cannot endure another war,” stated Corinne Fleischer, the WFP regional director.
