Ugandan Companies, Iranian Knowledge Enterprises Sign 4 MoUs

Ugandan Companies, Iranian Knowledge Enterprises Sign 4 MoUsThe Signing of the MoUs took place during a conference of Iranian and Ugandan companies held in the Ugandan capital city of Kampala. The event was  participated by Ugandan Minister for Science and Technology Elioda Tumwesigye, Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari and Iran’s Ambassador Seyed Morteza Mortazavi.

A delegation of Representatives from Iranian knowledge-based companies is accompanying the Iranian vice-president in his visit to Uganda. The Iranian knowledge based enterprises represented in this visit are active in health and pharmaceuticals, chemical industries, communications and technology, electricity and electronics, aerospace, engineering services, machinery and equipment and banking sectors.

In this visit, the Iranian firms held talks with the representatives of Ugandan private and state-run sectors on ways of promoting cooperation.

Addressing the Friday conference, the Ugandan minister for science and technology said that grounds are prepared for the Iranian companies to invest in the country.

He also called on the Iranian firms to work out a long-term plan for presence in the country’s market of 40-million.

At the same venue, Sattri, for his part, also commented on Iran’s scientific and technological progresses, saying that Iran is ready for sharing its technology with the African country.

Iran and Uganda have been developing relations in the past decades especially in areas of health and technology which Iran has been very helpful to the under-developed African country. The two countries are now determined to boost relations in all areas.

Earlier on Wednesday, Ugandan Inspector General of Police (IGP) J. M. Okoth Ochola  told Iranian Vice-President Sattari that he was "proud of the strong relationship" between  the Islamic Republic of Iran andUganda. He added that he and the Ugandan Police Force are "optimistic that this collaboration will continue to grow from strength to strength”. Sattari and Ochola met after the Iranian delegation toured the Iran-Uganda state of the art medical center located in Naguru.
