Judicial Investigation Into the Case of War Crimes Committed by the US and the Zionist Regime
TEHRAN (Defapress) - In an exclusive interview with the Defapress correspondent, Brigadier General Sohrab Ali Shamkhani, Deputy for Legal and Parliamentary Affairs of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), outlined the legal, judicial, and defense dimensions of pursuing the crimes of the United States and the Zionist regime. Emphasizing the public demand for the prosecution of these criminals, he announced the comprehensive documentation of hostile actions, including crimes committed during the 12-Day Imposed War, the Ramadan war, the January 2026 coup attempt, the assassination of the martyr Leader of the nation, and attacks on medical, educational, nuclear, and national infrastructure facilities, confirming that numerous legal and criminal cases have been filed.

The Legal and Parliamentary Deputy of the IRGC highlighted the broad public involvement in these cases, noting that hundreds of thousands of citizens have granted power of attorney to the judiciary to seek damages for losses incurred during various events. Furthermore, based on official confessions and estimates from U.S. officials acknowledging approximately three trillion dollars in damage inflicted on Iran's infrastructure, public facilities, and military sectors, formal claims demanding full U.S. compensation have been registered. In this context, judicial proceedings have been formalized, and official notifications for 226 criminal cases have been served to the U.S. via the Embassy of Pakistan (the U.S. interests section in Washington), paving the way for the first court session to convene shortly in Tehran.
Shamkhani also addressed the legislative aspect of these pursuits, stating that the IRGC has called for the formulation and finalization of a bill in the Islamic Consultative Assembly to prosecute international crimes, including war crimes and crimes against humanity. He stressed that with the IRGC's proposal to apply retroactive jurisdiction, the judicial system will have expanded authority to address past crimes committed by the U.S. and its allies. He added that these legal actions align with public demands as well as the will and directives of the martyred Leader.
Concluding his remarks, the Legal and Parliamentary Deputy of the IRGC addressed the country's defense and military readiness, emphasizing that only a very small fraction of the nation's weapons stockpile was consumed during recent conflicts. Through strategic planning, production lines, and large reserves of ammunition in silos and designated facilities remain fully prepared for a prolonged confrontation. He reiterated that Iran maintains a posture of legitimate defense, warning that should U.S. and Zionist regime aggression expand or continue, Iran's response and countermeasures will decisively expand as well.
