TEHRAN (Defapress) - The Guardian newspaper website, in a report written by “Patrick Wintour”, reported that Washington has taken the initiative to reach a ceasefire with Tehran, noting that Steve Witkoff, Trump’s special envoy, has sent messages to Tehran on two occasions calling for a ceasefire. However, Iran has ignored these messages and continued its attacks because it considers itself victorious.

Regional War Continues After Iran Boldly Opposes Trump’s Ceasefire

While the US president is under political pressure, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, in a preemptive stance, announced that Trump’s possible claim of US victory will not end the war. Accordingly, even if the US stops its attacks, Iran may still be willing to continue the war in various forms and continue to tighten security in the Strait of Hormuz.

The Guardian writer goes on to emphasize that Iran’s audacity and stubbornness in insisting on a regional war have astonished global observers.

Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharib Abadi said in this regard: “If a ceasefire is to be established and the war stopped, there must be a guarantee that aggressive actions against Iran will not be repeated. Otherwise, if another attack is to occur after a few months, such a ceasefire will be meaningless.”

Until Trump realizes that the economic, political, and military costs are too high to repeat it, the war cannot be ended. Instead, a permanent agreement must be insisted on, which includes a US commitment not to attack Iran again.

While several countries have expressed their readiness to mediate with our country’s Foreign Ministry, Tehran is expected to face more diplomatic pressure on Wednesday. At the UN Security Council meeting, a resolution is scheduled to be issued with the support of 80 countries condemning Iran’s regional war at the request of Bahrain. At the same time, Russia is pursuing a separate plan for a ceasefire.

Mohammad Ghalibaf, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, wrote on social media: “We are absolutely not looking for a ceasefire. If the enemy knows that they take any action, it will definitely be met with a proportionate and immediate response.”

The IRGC’s public relations department announced in a statement: “At the beginning of the war, we announced and we are announcing again that no vessel linked to the aggressors against Iran has the right to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. If you have doubts, come closer and understand.”

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has emphasized that monitoring and control over the Strait of Hormuz, which supplies nearly 20 percent of the world’s crude oil and about 20 percent of LNG, will be permanent.
