Iran Willing to Exchange Views with Spain on Regional Developments"The sensitive Middle-East region needs a type of global partnership and protection to resolve important issues and we are happy that Europe, in general, and Spain, in particular, have a different and more positive policy towards the countries of this region," Velayati said in a meeting with Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Alfonso Dastis in Tehran on Wednesday.

He reminded of the damage inflicted on the region by foreign interference, and said, "Everyone has reached this conclusion that solution to the regional problems is political and not military, people should decide their own fate and foreign meddling should stop."

Velayati stressed that turmoil in the Middle-East region has left negative impacts on Europe and Spain, and said, "Therefore, we are ready to exchange views to resolve problems peacefully based on the international laws in a bid to revive tranquility and stability to the region."

Dastis, for his part, stressed his country's willingness to further deepen ties and cooperation with Iran, and said, "I agree with you on exchanging views with the goal of establishing security, stability and tranquility in the world and the region, specially as you emphasized that there is a will to find political and not military solutions."

The top Spanish diplomat arrived in Tehran on Tuesday night at the head of a high-ranking politico-economic delegation for a two-day visit.

Dastis plans to discuss avenues for bolstering bilateral relations in talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and other senior authorities.

Iranian Ambassador to Madrid Mohammad Hassan Fadaei Fard said the Spanish foreign minister's scheduled visit would be important in mutual, regional and international terms and would create new developments in relations.

He added that the two countries are resolved to boost political and economic ties after the implementation of the multilateral nuclear agreement, officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), signed between Iran and the world powers in 2015.
