TEHRAN (Defapress) - Ebrahim Rezaei, Spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly, in an interview with Defapress correspondent, reacted to recent remarks by U.S. officials regarding Iran's nuclear program, emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran will not retreat from its red lines.
Rezaei, referring to the components of Iran's national power, stated: "We have red lines that we will not retreat from under any circumstances, including regional power, military strength, missile and drone capabilities, and uranium enrichment. These are the guarantors of our national security and have served as a deterrent, preventing enemy attacks on our country."
He stressed: "Any rational person understands that one must not retreat from fundamental rights and strategic assets. Therefore, the right to enrichment is among these fundamental rights, neither negotiable nor even up for discussion."
The spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Commission of the Islamic Consultative Assembly noted that any negotiation targeting Iran's inherent right to enrichment would be doomed from the outset, adding: "If negotiations are to be held over the principle of Iran's enrichment, they will certainly fail."
Further pointing to America's history of bad faith in previous agreements, he emphasized: "The JCPOA experience demonstrated that retreating from nuclear rights not only brings no benefits to the country but also leads to increased pressure and unjust sanctions. Therefore, the Islamic Republic of Iran's approach in future negotiations will be based on safeguarding national interests, deterrent power, and past experiences."
