TEHRAN (Defapress) - In a situation where we witness daily attacks and aggressions by the Zionist regime against the Palestinian people, especially the residents of the Gaza Strip, Palestinian human rights organizations report an unprecedented increase in the arrest of women in the West Bank; a trend that, according to these organizations, has taken on worrying dimensions in recent months and has become part of a policy of all-out pressure against the Palestinian society.

Tsunami of Palestinian Women Arrests in the West Bank

The Palestinian Prisoners Club announced that the volume of operations to arrest and target Palestinian women in the West Bank has witnessed a continuous and unprecedented increase. According to the "Palestinian Prisoners' Society", the number of Palestinian women imprisoned in Israeli detention centers and prisons has reached about 95, which is the highest level in recent years.

According to reports published in Palestinian organizations and institutions, several Palestinian women have been arrested from various cities in the West Bank in recent days alone. Among the detainees are university students, wives of prisoners, and even women with disabilities.
Palestinian institutions say that the scope of these arrests has increased widely and has targeted women from different segments of society. An issue that has raised many concerns, first among the Palestinian people and then among Palestinian, regional, and even global institutions and organizations.

On the other side of the field, numerous reports have been published about the difficult conditions of detention of Palestinian women in prisons. Prisoners' rights organizations report a lack of medical services, severe restrictions, long-term interrogations, and degrading treatment of detained women.

According to Palestinian institutions, some of the detained Palestinian women include students, mothers, and even pregnant women who are being held in inappropriate conditions. This shows that the occupying and illegitimate Zionist regime does not place the slightest value or credibility on human rights, especially those of the Palestinian people.

Accordingly, experts on Palestinian issues believe that the increase in the detention of women indicates a change in approach in Israel's security policies in the West Bank. They believe that these measures, in addition to direct pressure on women, are aimed at exerting psychological pressure on Palestinian families and social environments.

Of course, this is not the whole story, and in recent months, reports have also been published of widespread arrests of family members of prisoners and Palestinian social activists. For example, the Prisoner Club reported that this increase in arrests took place after the occupation forces arrested three women from the town of Kobar, northwest of Ramallah, the city of Jenin, and the al-Ain camp in Nablus on the morning of Monday, June 8, including the wife of a prisoner.

The numerous waves of arrests of Palestinian women are not limited to these cases, and another report reported that the occupation forces last week also arrested four female students from Birzeit University, including a graduate, who were all transferred to the Al-Moskobiya detention center. In addition, a girl from Ramallah who suffers from a motor disability was also arrested.

According to statistics published by Palestinian institutions, hundreds of Palestinian women have been arrested in the West Bank since the start of the Gaza war, bringing the total number of arrests in the region to tens of thousands. These institutions warn that the continuation of the current trend could have widespread social and humanitarian consequences for Palestinian society.

Finally, as military operations and repeated raids on West Bank cities and camps continue, human rights organizations have called for the intervention of international institutions to investigate the situation of detained women and ensure that their rights are respected. These organizations emphasize that the unprecedented increase in the arrests of women is a sign of the escalating humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territories and requires urgent attention from the international community.
