Syrian Orthodox Archbishop George Saliba of Mount Lebanon and Tripoli made the remarks while talking to reports ahead of an international gathering to illuminate significance of Ghadir event.
Ghadir is the day when the holy Prophet of Islam appointed the first Shiite Imam Ali (AS) as his successor.
The archbishop noted that Iranians have always observed the legal rights of religious minorities.
He said the dignified treatment of religious minorities in Iran has led to friendly coexistence of the whole nation.
The Lebanese cleric, for his part, stressed that promotion of convergence, unity and dialogue among Muslims could solve many of the problems the Islamic world is now facing.
He believed a unified Muslim Ummah could destroy the power of enemies of Islam.
The Lebanese archbishop further referred to his country as a place where people belonging to various religions lead a peaceful life.
