During a phone conversation, Iranian Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistical Support Brigadier General Amir Hatami and Russian Minister of Defense Sergey Shoygu exchanged views on the situation of the two countries’ defensive cooperation, regional and international developments and fight against terrorism.
Stressing that the expansion of defensive cooperation has a special place in defensive diplomacy, Hatami stated "increasing defensive might and power of the two countries is a priority for Tehran-Moscow relations to establish peace and security in the regional and international environment.”
Iran’s Minister of Defense held that Washington’s lack of commitment to JCPOA, leads the world to unsafety, adding "the anger and pressures of the US against Iran emanates from the cooperation of Iran and Russia in fighting international terrorism, particularly in Syria, which hinders the dangerous plots of the United States.”
Expressing his gratitude for Russian government’s supports of IRGC’s role in the fight against terrorism, Hatami said "IRGC is the powerful arm of Iran and the governments of the region in combating terrorism and nothing can stop IRGC from shouldering this responsibility.”
The Russian Minister of Defense congratulated Amir Hatami on being appointed as the defense minister of Iran and called for prolongation of cooperation in the fight against international and regional terrorism.”
Sergey Shoygu referred to Russia’s resolute support of JCPOA and stated "Iran’s adherence to nuclear deal is certified by Russian government and there is no need for cancellation of the deal or withdrawal of others.”
