"Iran and Turkey seriously cooperate in security fields and fighting terrorism and the two countries enjoy profound views on the expansion of cooperation and implementation of understandings made in different arenas," Zolfaqari said.
He added that during the recent visit by Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu to Tehran, the two sides discussed the security dangers threatening both countries in areas of terrorism and drug trafficking as well as weapons and ammunition trafficking, human trafficking and organized crimes.
Zolfaqari and Soylu in a meeting in Tehran last Saturday discussed mutual cooperation to reinforce the two countries' security cooperation.
During the meeting in the Iranian capital, they explored avenues for bolstering and reinvigorating security cooperation.
The Iranian deputy interior minister and the Turkish interior minister discussed the expansion of bilateral ties and cooperation in fighting terrorism, mutual security concerns and the most important regional and international issues.
The two sides also held talks on the recent terrorist attack in Northeastern Iran during which an Iranian border guard was killed and 7 other guards and engineers were injured.
Soylu was in Iran at the formal invitation of Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli. The Turkish interior minister was accompanied by Turkish Gendarmerie General Commander Arif Cetin and Selami Altınok, the General Director of Security.
