Emirati pro-democracy activist to spend 10 years in jail
The United Arab Emirates sentenced an activist to 10 years in prison and a cash fine of more than $270,000.
TEHRAN (Defapress)-Ahmed Mansoor and five other activists demanded democracy in Emirates in 2011, during the Arab Spring.
In the early hours of March 20, 2017, a dozen of Emirati security forces stormed his home in Ajman and arrested him.
WAM, the UAE’s official news agency claimed Mansoor had been detained for using social media to “publish false and misleading information” that would harm national unity and the country’s reputation.
