Saudi Arabia should let journo's son leave country

Michael Page, deputy director in Middle East and North Africa Division at Human Rights Watch said Saudi officials should allow the son of the prominent Saudi journalist, who was recently slain inside Saudi consulate in Istanbul, to travel, Al Jazeera TV channel reported.

He noted Salah bin Jamal Khashoggi is an American citizen and preventing him from travelling is a terrible thing.

Page added US officials should push the Saudis to allow him to leave Saudi Arabia if he desires to.

On Tuesday, Saudi Arabia's king Salman and Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman met Jamal Khashoggi's son and his brother at the royal palace to offer their condolences.

This is while the finger of blame for murdering Jamal Khashoggi is pointed at the crown prince.

The Saudi critic journalist entered on October second the Saudi consulate in Istanbul to collect paperwork for his forthcoming marriage, but never came back out.

After 18 days of silence and rejecting claims that Khashoggi was killed, the Saudi government finally bowed down to international pressure on October 20th and claimed the prominent journalist was killed in what it called 'a fist-fight' inside Istanbul consulate.

During his lifetime, the Washington post columnist sharply rebuked Saudi Arabia's war in Yemen, financial crisis between Saudi Arabia and Canada and arresting women's rights activists.
