Turkey's Anadolu news agency reported on Thursday that a large military convoy, consisting of personnel-carriers, have been sent from Jangiri region to Kalis at the border with Syria in the Southern parts of Turkey.
Meantime, field sources in Northern Syria reported that several Turkish military convoys, consisting of military and armored vehicles and vehicles carrying Turkish weapons and equipment, have been dispatched to the borders with Syria to strengthen Ankara's military positions.
They added that the convoys have been sent to the region to join an imminent military operation against Kurds in Eastern Syria;
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had earlier declared Ankara's decision to postpone the operations.
Erdogan said on Saturday that Turkey would delay its large-scale military operation against Kurdish-led People’s Protection Units (YPG) and Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Northern Syria.
Erdogan said that he was delaying the Turkish military operation in order to allow the US-led Coalition enough time to withdraw from the country, the AMN reported.
“Of course this is not an open ended waiting process,” Erdogan said at an award ceremony in Istanbul.
According to Erdogan, Turkey is not eyeing any Syrian territories, but highlighted that they will not tolerate the presence of terrorists.
“Our position against terrorist attacks targeting us from Syria is clear,” Erdogan said, adding that his nation’s army would fight the groups.
Erdogan’s position is that this upcoming operation east of the Euphrates will eliminate the said ‘terrorists’.
“The regional security is vital for us. The steps that we have taken in the region together with Russia and Iran aim to ensure regional security,” Erdogan added.
