TEHRAN (Defapress) - According to Al Jazeera, Itamar Ben Gvir, the former minister of the Zionist regime and an extremist right-wing figure who resigned in January due to his opposition to any ceasefire agreement between the Zionist regime and Hamas, has recently supported the Netanyahu cabinet's decision to cut off electricity to the Gaza Strip.
In controversial remarks, Ben Gvir stated, "I welcome the cutting of electricity to Gaza and believe the area should immediately be plunged into complete darkness as long as even one Zionist prisoner remains in Gaza."
He further added that Tel Aviv should bomb the large fuel reservoirs that entered Gaza as part of the recent ceasefire agreement. He described the agreement as a "shameful deal" and argued that such resources should not be allowed to fall into Hamas's hands.
The agreement Ben-Gvir referred to, which he strongly opposes, could, if fully implemented, lead to the release of all Zionist prisoners in Gaza. This agreement is part of international efforts to reduce tensions in the region, but Ben-Gvir and his allies believe that such agreements only serve to strengthen Hamas.
Ben-Gvir, who has previously gained notoriety for his harsh anti-Palestinian stances, has repeatedly called for the resumption of extensive bombings in Gaza and the cutting off of all resources supplying the basic needs of the region. He believes that only through maximum pressure can Hamas be forced to surrender.
However, Ben Gvir's positions have faced significant criticism. Eli Sharabi, one of the recently released Zionist prisoners, recently rebuked Ben Gvir for his inflammatory statements. Sharabi claimed that Ben Gvir's remarks about the harsh conditions of Palestinian prisoners in Israel have worsened the conditions of Zionist prisoners in Gaza.
In response to these criticisms, Ben Gvir not only refused to apologize but also accused the media of repeating Hamas propaganda and attempting to tarnish his image.
