"Tehran is seeking dialogue and stability in the region as the situation requires more bilateral and regional diplomatic consultations," Sanayee said during the meeting in the Russian capital on Thursday.
Sanayee and Bogdanov also exchanged views on the latest developments in the region, particularly in Syria and Yemen.
"Nobody will benefit from the crises and conflicts in the region," Sanayee said, warning that if the issues are not solved through consultation among the countries in the region, the outsiders will hatch plots for the region.
The Iranian ambassador to Moscow also said that the recent move by the US administration to recognize al-Quds (Jerusalem) as the capital of the Zionist regime of Israel made the Muslim countries more united in the face of the US policies.
On December 6, Trump announced that he would relocate the US embassy from Tel Aviv to al-Quds. The decision prompted strong global condemnation.
The General Assembly of the United Nation in a resolution denounced any change on the holy city's status.
The Palestinians say al-Quds is the capital of their future country.
