In a statement issued on Sunday ahead of the third anniversary of the start of the Saudi-led coalition’s devastating war in Yemen, the Foreign Ministry condemned the military aggression and called for the lifting of the “cruel” blockade on the Arabian Peninsula country.
It further described the humanitarian situation in Yemen as “very regrettable” and said the war has brought nothing but instability and insecurity and led to the deaths and injuries of tens of thousands.
The Saudi war on Yemen has also caused the destruction of health and civil infrastructure and the suffering of over one million Yemenis from cholera and an increase in terrorist and Takfiri activities, the ministry added.
The statement came ahead of Monday that marks the anniversary of the start of the Saudi-led aggression.
Yemen’s defenseless people have been under massive attacks by the Saudi-led coalition for three years but Riyadh has reached none of its objectives in Yemen so far.
Since March 26, 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
Over 14,000 Yemenis, including thousands of women and children, have lost their lives in the deadly military campaign.
