TEHRAN (Defapress) - Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi, stated in interview with Aljazeera that the assassination of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution is a "very dangerous, unprecedented, and clear violation of international law," and its consequences could make the conflict more complex and dangerous.

We Have No Limits in Defending Ourselves

Araghchi, emphasizing that "we do not accept any limits in defending ourselves," clarified that Iran will act within its legitimate right of self-defense and does not see any restrictions in this path.

He also announced the initiation of a legal process within the country and stated that a transitional council has been formed, and the affairs are being managed according to the constitutional mechanisms. According to him, "all affairs in the country are proceeding regularly and in accordance with the constitution."

The Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized further that Tehran's relations with the countries of the Gulf region are good and Iran does not intend to target its neighbors.

He added, "We do not attack the countries of the Persian Gulf, but we are targeting the American military presence in these countries."

Araghchi, referring to the beginning of attacks on American military bases in the region, said this action has led American forces to start evacuating some bases.

He also stated that he has been in continuous contact with regional counterparts and provided the necessary explanations.

The Iranian Foreign Minister continued by announcing that Iran is aware of the Persian Gulf countries' anger towards these attacks, but this war has been "imposed on Iran" and was not a decision made by Iran.

Araghchi, pointing out that "this war was started by America and Israel, and pressure should be put on them," called on neighboring countries to convey their dissatisfaction to Washington and Tel Aviv.

He added that the Iranian armed forces have been instructed to be careful in choosing targets in regional countries and that no attack will be carried out without thorough assessment.

Araghchi emphasized that Iran cannot witness attacks against itself and neighboring countries expect Iran to remain silent.

The Iranian Foreign Minister also stated: "Our relations with the countries of the Persian Gulf region are good and we have no issues with them."

Regarding the US and Israel's goal to change Iran's regime, he said: "Changing Iran's regime is an impossible mission, and even the absence or martyrdom of the country's Leader does not make it possible."

Araghchi further added that Iran's government institutions are active and legal actions are continuing, and we are likely to witness the election of a new Leader in the coming days.

The Iranian Foreign Minister also announced that Tehran, in contrast to the US, has always emphasized the openness of diplomacy, and the US has twice targeted Iran during negotiations.

Araghchi while stating that this time the conditions are different and the US must explain why it took such action, added that Iran's actions depend on stopping the aggressions, and We have no special expectations of others and are capable of defending ourselves.

He also explained that Iran's military units are now independent and autonomous, acting according to previously provided guidelines.

The Iranian Foreign Minister clarified that there is currently no plan to close the Strait of Hormuz or disrupt maritime traffic, and Iran's focus is on defensive response and crisis management.

The Iranian Foreign Minister emphasized that any effort to end the aggression is conditional on an immediate halt to the attacks and explanation for them.
