TEHRAN (Defapress) - At the Board of Governors meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna, Iran, China, and Russia issued a joint statement, opposing the efforts of Western countries to increase pressure on Tehran and emphasizing that the resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue is only possible through dialogue and diplomacy.

Joint Statement of Iran, China, and Russia: Opposition to Western Resolution

In this statement, the three countries announced that the issue of implementing Iran's safeguards agreement within the framework of the Non-Proliferation Treaty and related Security Council resolutions, given the expiration of the validity of the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 on October 18, 2025, is not relevant to the current situation. Iran, China, and Russia also considered the attempt by the three European countries to activate the mechanism known as the "Snapback mechanism" to be legally invalid and without legal consequences.

The statement also read the reports of the IAEA Director General on the implementation of the political resolution 2231 and warned that such measures could undermine the process of reaching a comprehensive solution to the Iranian nuclear issue.

The three countries once again emphasized Iran’s commitment to the nuclear non-proliferation regime as a member of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and considered the right of member states to develop research, production, and peaceful use of nuclear energy as an inalienable right.

In another part of the statement, the repeated attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities under safeguards and the threat of continued military action were condemned, describing these actions as a factor in weakening the non-proliferation regime and creating an unprecedented situation in the history of the Agency.

Iran, China, and Russia also considered the draft resolution submitted by the United States, Germany, France, and the UK as a political, unconstructive, and inappropriate move in the current sensitive situation, and warned that this resolution could undermine cooperation between Iran and the Agency and harm ongoing diplomatic efforts.

The three countries concluded by emphasizing that a lasting solution to the current situation is only possible through an immediate and complete cessation of all attacks, the elimination of further threats, and respect for the legitimate rights of member states, including the right to the peaceful and non-discriminatory use of nuclear energy within the framework of the Non-Proliferation Treaty.
