Amano made the remarks in a meeting with Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi at the venue of Iran's embassy in Rome on Monday.
During the meeting, he discussed the latest political developments related to the nuclear deal and the US administration's recent positions, and said the IAEA has so far confirmed Iran's full compliance with its undertakings.
"Objective assessment of nuclear measures and activities and the countries' loyalty to the IAEA is and will be important to us and is the basis for the Agency's views and reports. The political developments will leave no effect on the Agency's assessment," Amano said.
In relevant remarks last week, Iranian Ambassador to London Hamid Baeedinejad underlined that the IAEA is the sole international body to endorse that Iran has remained committed to fulfilling the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
"Notwithstanding the US words and rhetoric on Iran's alleged non-compliance with its commitments under the JCPOA while the IAEA has confirmed it eight times, the US moves are in clear violation of international law and the IAEA's provisions," Baeedinejad said in reaction to the US violations of nuclear agreement signed between Tehran and the six world powers (the US, Russia, China, France, Britain and Germany).
The Iranian ambassador to Britain said that many countries and political leaders in the world are waiting for the decision of the US government to declare their final policy on JCPOA, adding, "There are plenty of behind-the-scene talks to influence Trump's decision, and based on this, several formulas and methods for adopting a new US policy are underway."
He reiterated that the US government can declare its policies toward Iran in the framework of international policy, but in declaring Iran’s adherence to nuclear commitments, it has to adopt the policies defined by the Agency, which is the only body to confirm Iran’s abiding by nuclear-related commitments under JCPOA.
