TEHRAN (Defapress) - The Israeli Army's Ground Forces, with extensive and unchecked Western support in the 1960s and 1970s, invaded regional countries and achieved some successes.
However, while the Israeli army had achieved significant victories against the armies of Arab nations on its own, it has suffered heavy blows from Palestinian Islamic resistance in the ground battles of Gaza.
Hamas and Islamic Jihad, in their various confrontations with Israeli military forces, have used asymmetric warfare tactics to destroy hundreds of tanks and armored vehicles of the occupying regime, dealing severe blows to the "Israeli" army.
If we were to analyze the reasons behind the success of Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters in their asymmetric war against the Zionist enemy, two critical factors must be highlighted:
1- The exceptional skill of Hamas and Islamic Jihad’s anti-tank fighters, who, with mere cheap equipment, successfully target advanced tanks worth $3.5 million.
2- The "Yassin" anti-tank rocket, has immobilized the Zionist regime in the Gaza war. The Al-A'lam Al-Askari Telegram channel broadcasts footage of these rockets being fired from inside buildings or blind spots each time they are launched.
Field reports indicate that the Yassin anti-tank rockets cost less than $500. Yet, this weapon has troubled Israeli armored units, including the Golani Brigade, forcing them to retreat from Gaza at times.
Despite the enemy’s heavy censorship regarding the power of Hamas and Islamic Jihad’s rockets, field sources report that since the start of the Al-Aqsa Storm operation, over 1,000 tanks, armored personnel carriers, and bulldozers belonging to the Zionist regime have been either completely destroyed or rendered inoperable in battles with Hamas and Islamic Jihad. This has caused serious logistical problems for the Zionist enemy in Gaza’s streets.
Assuming that each Israeli army tank costs $3.5 million, considering the damage inflicted on the regime's armored units, the estimated damage would be around $3.5 billion, which is a large and impressive number; of course, this is apart from the costs of replacing and recovering the Israeli army's armored units, especially the Golani Brigade.
Consider that this same army, now struggling against Palestinian Islamic resistance, had repeatedly defeated Arab nations with hundreds of tanks and armored vehicles in the wars of the 1940s–1960s. Yet today, the Zionists face severe difficulties in confronting Palestinian Resistance, especially in ground warfare.
Features of the Yassin-105 Rocket
This rocket was unveiled after the Al-Aqsa Storm operation to target Zionist armored vehicles. It has dual-stage warheads, capable of penetrating even steel armor.
The Yassin-105 resembles the RPG-7 and tandem anti-armor rockets in structure but possesses unique destructive power and precision. Analysts believe Hamas and Islamic Jihad fighters combined elements of the RPG-2 and RPG-7 to create the Yassin-105, which can reportedly penetrate the advanced armor of Israel’s Merkava tanks.
Reports indicate that Merkava tanks have hundreds of millimeters of reactive and composite armor. Yet, they consistently fall prey to Hamas and Islamic Jihad strikes—a remarkable feat of asymmetric warfare.
The Yassin-105 has an effective range of under 1 km, with a speed estimated between 117–300 m/s by foreign sources. It can disrupt the radar guidance systems of Merkava tanks and penetrate their armor. In other words, the radar systems of the Zionist regime’s Merkava tanks fail to detect these low-cost rockets.
Combat Operator, a military analysis website, writes about the advanced Yassin rockets: "Since the start of the Gaza war and Israel’s ground invasion, Hamas fighters have stood their ground against the Zionist army using small, anti-armor rockets."
The site adds: "Israeli tanks are being targeted by rockets called Yassin-105, which are a hybrid of the RPG-2 and RPG-7."
Combat Operator emphasized: "The Yassin-105 launcher has a 64mm caliber, modeled after the Soviet Union's RPG-2. According to Hamas’ Al-Qassam Brigades, the destructive power of these rockets is extremely high."
While the Zionist regime may have occupied parts of Gaza in the ongoing war, it has suffered painful defeats in ground combat.
