TEHRAN (Defapress) - In an interview with CNN, Esmail Baghaei, Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in response to a question about how he sees the progress of the negotiations with the United States, stated: If the goal is to ensure that Iran's nuclear program will not have military use, I think we can easily conclude, but if the goal is to deny Iran the right to peaceful nuclear energy, I think it is very problematic to the point that it will hinder the entire process.

The State Department spokesman also responded to the question of how much the Trump administration and Whitaker understand the right to enrichment, saying: “The fact that we have continued our negotiations so far means that there is a certain level of understanding, that Iran will not give up its right to peaceful nuclear energy, including enrichment, under any circumstances.”

He continued, responding to the question of how a compromise could be reached, by stating: “I absolutely think that the will is the ability. There is not just one way, but many ways to reach a compromise. As far as we are concerned, we know that our nuclear program is entirely peaceful, and we are committed to ensuring that it remains peaceful.”

Regarding the US and Israeli pressures in the negotiations, as well as the threats against Iran, Baghaei said: “Those (threats) are certainly not helpful. You know that the Iranians will not yield to any kind of pressure. We have proven many times in the past centuries that Iranians do not respond to any kind of threat or positive pressure. Therefore, Iranians are unanimous in their use of this language, and we will definitely defend our national security.”
