TEHRAN (Defapress) - Iranian and Egyptian Foreign Ministers Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Badr Abdelatty met and held talks in Cairo.
During the meeting, the process of improving bilateral relations between Iran and Egypt was reviewed, and the two sides emphasized their determination to continue this process to strengthen relations in areas of interest to the 2 countries, including the economic, trade, tourism, and cultural fields.
During the meeting, the 2 sides exchanged views on regional and international developments, especially the humanitarian disaster in occupied Palestine resulting from the ongoing genocide in Gaza, the necessity of providing humanitarian aid to the people, stopping the genocide and crimes of the Zionist regime, and preventing the plan to forcibly displace the people of Gaza from their land.
The 2 ministers also discussed the Iranian nuclear issue. Referring to Iran's principled stance in defending its rights and interests under the Non-Proliferation Treaty, the Foreign Minister described the illegal attacks by the United States and the Zionist regime as a fatal blow to the principles of the United Nations Charter and international law.
Recalling the responsibilities of the International Atomic Energy Agency to protect the rights of NPT member states, Araghchi announced Iran's readiness to formulate a protocol for interaction between Iran and the Agency in the new situation resulting from the illegal attacks by the United States/Zionist regime, within the framework of a parliamentary law.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister also emphasized the rights of all NPT member states to utilize nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, praised the responsible approach of the Islamic Republic of Iran in this regard, and announced Egypt's readiness to facilitate Iran-Agency interactions.
